Young mother beheaded outside Bay Area home ID’d, suspect in custody

According to KTLA sister station KRON, a young mother of two from Northern California

who was beheaded with a sword has been identified, and the suspect was taken into custody on Friday.

The tragic murder took place at 11:50 a.m. Karina Castro, a 27-year-old woman

who was attacked outside her apartment in the affluent San Francisco Bay Area neighbourhood of San Carlos, was later recognised by her sister.

Deputies were hailed down by witnesses to inform them of the ongoing sword attack

according to Lt. Eamonn Allen of the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

Castro, a mother of two, and the suspect, 33-year-old Jose Rafael Solano Landaeta, had a domestic argument a few blocks away

according to Allen, but he later returned to the crime site unarmed.
