Thousands in Lane County will lose power because of severe winds, according to EWEB and Lane Electric.

When utilities cut off electricity this weekend in preparation of a strong wind event that could topple

powerlines and spark wildfires, thousands of people in Lane County will be left in the dark and the heat.

Both the Lane Electric Cooperative and the Eugene Water & Electric Board intend to cut off energy to

some or all of their customers at 5 o'clock in the

evening. In anticipation of the severe winds, Friday through at least Saturday night.
