Steelers WR Chase Claypool on the offense:  We can only do what they tell us to do

Chase Claypool, a wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, caught four

passes for 26 yards on Sunday in the team's defeat to the New England

Patriots. Quite a modest effort for someone who said before the season that

he is one of the best three receivers in the NFL.

Everyone is perplexed as to why an offence including skilled players of the calibre of Claypool has looked so ineffective this year.

Claypool claims that they are only carrying out their duties.

We can only carry out the instructions they give us, said Claypool. With this quote, there is a lot to unpack.

Yes, players are responsible for execution. Even if it's September and the coach tells you it's Easter, you still need to start concealing eggs.

This does not, however, imply that the coaches may throw anything at the players and expect them to succeed.
